The Río Verde Waterfalls tour
Description activity The Río Verde Waterfalls tour
The Río Verde Waterfalls is a 80 acres natural reserve located in Córdoba, about one and a half hour drive from Armenia, offering beautiful natural landscapes for those not averse to hiking several miles in the Andes. The trip begins with rigorous 30 minutes jeep ride over rugged dirt/boulder roads, hang on!, then a two kilometer uphill hike through gorgeous high altitude (2100 m.a.s.l) cattle grazing fields interspersed with dense jungle of giant ficus, black cedar, eucalyptus and fern trees. The spectacular views make the mild muscle fatigue and shortness of breath not only pleasant but unforgettable. One soon arrives at the main reserve site (also the expert guide's home and actually a former 'guerilla' hideout more than one decade ago), where visitors are greeted with local fruit, warm panela (sugar cane extract) and delicious cheeses made by the inhabitants of the village.
